If you think you can put replacement torsion rods in without this you have a lot of frustration coming. BUY THE TOOL. I followed the directions in the video and ended up putting LH rod on RH side and vice versa on other side (this was incorrect on my part). Didn't fit well and didn't hold the trunk. Bought a replacement used set from WCCC. they didn't work either. Then I tried swapping the rods side to side and it worked in two minutes and was a whole lot easier.

I found this tool superior to the lighter duty one I initially purchased. I had no tension in the rods left and they would not lift the trunk at all. Another set would only lift my trunk about an inch on 3rd notch. I was able to use a good quality 3/8" ratchet with this tool to install the rods in reverse to the 1st notch.This only worked because of how heavy duty this tool is. I did have help and had the back seat out but it worked out great! The trunk now flies up when opened. Only do this in reverse if you do not have good tensioned rods to begin with. There is much more tension when you do it in reverse. Either way, always be careful when setting the rods under tension.

Car key numbers worked. Just like getting new keys from the factory. Pretty cool.

Perfect tool for the torsion bar. adjusted torsion bars in minutes using this tool. A little pricey for what I hope will be a one time use, but great tool to keep in the collection.

Rear Deck / Trunk Lid Torsion Bar / Hinge tool really helps! Makes it easy to remove or adjust trunk spring.

This tool is amazing. My 68 mustang trunk lid keep falling down when opened.

Never saw this tool till I used it and within 1 min had the bars in the second position.

Works like new now. This tool make a complex job so simple. I just layed a thick Blanket on the gas tank wore safety glasses and a face shield, just in case. Crawled in the trunk with the tool and a 3/8 in ratchet. Watch the Video it helps. Now when I go to the store the trunk lid stays up. Highly recommend it. SB

A handy too for this annoying task. Not the same as the one in the video. You have to use a 3/8" ratchet or breaker bar for this one, which makes it awkward until you figure out which way to turn it. That's why 4/5 on correctness. Otherwise, a sturdy chunk of metal that works well.
