After 45+ years of sitting in the garage, the finish on my factory rear bumper was fading (interestingly, the original front bumper still looks great). I decided to "bite the bullet" and pony up for the rechromed rear bumper. It arrived with what looks like minor wear around the driver's side edge. It looks like it happened inside the shipping box. You would need to look real close to see it. I didn't notice it until after installation. I would probably have sent it back if I noticed it beforehand.

Also had a real tough time getting it aligned. Although the original bumper fit perfectly, we needed to modify the bumper bracket to get it to sit right - sat out too far from the car. Not sure why this was, as we didn't see any problem with the bumper's shape.

WCCC Response:

We apologize that there were any blemishes in your bumper. We try hard to pack them in a way that this will not happen. As for the alignment issue, this is common. If you bumper has hit anything in the life of the car the bumper brackets will bend and the bumper will contour to the new shape. As a part of the restoration process our bumpers are reshaped to the factory shape. In order to make them fit, the brackets will need to be bent back to factory position. There is a tool that can be used to accomplish this before you remove your original bumper. We talk about the tool at the 25 minute mark of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hJ2U1xxZAk

As an international customer it was a very expensive exercise but I am happy to say it was worth it, the rechromed bumper I received actually fitted better than the old one and it looks terrific on that beautiful rear end on the 68 cougar. I may have to silastic the rubber finishing blocks as they are a little loose in the top 'v' section of bumper both left and right. The dispatch people at WCC were helpful as much as they could be with an international order.
