Reproduction locking pawl for the 1970 - 1979 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang that is equipped with a factory tilt steering column. This unit works in conjunction with a pin and is responsible for locking the tilt column in place. In many cases, the pin tends to move out of place and break or chip the teeth of the locking pawl. This restored three spoke, rim blow steering wheel was used on all Cougars 1970-73 except the Cougars equipped with standard interior or on rare occasion the 1973 Cougars that came with the rare 2 spoke leather wrapped wheel. The Cougars equipped with standard interior used a two spoke wheel with the horn button located in the center pad.
