Vacuum / electric tilt away solenoid for the 1969 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang. Original Ford part number C9ZZ-3D536-A. These vacuum tilt solenoids are tested and guaranteed to work.

Bench testing the 1967-69 tilt away release solenoid: Verify that there is continuity between the two electrical spade connectors. No continuity means the the windings in solenoid windings are bad. This is a bad solenoid. Next, put vacuum to the lower port (10-17 inches of vacuum) any handheld or car vacuum source will work. The solenoid housing goes to ground, and the spade connector goes to 12v, when power is applied, (you will hear a clicking sound) the vacuum should drop out on a functioning solenoid.

There is an active thread on the Classic Cougar Community Forum discussing tilt columns and trouble shooting.
