This is actually the correct 2 inch screw for the 1968, as opposed to the 1 3/4 inch screw that would have come in the 67. With the added length this screw is less likely to pull out of the firewall than the 67 screw was. Fits Standard and XR7. Sold individually.

These 1969 molded vinyl, single post head rests were never offered on a Cougar or Mustang to our knowledge but they make a great "go-around" for the very expensive 1968 dual post headrests. To use them on your 1968 Cougar you will first need a pair of 1969 bucket seats as they have the internal hardware to accept the post. 1968 was a weak design so the 1969 seat frame is a nice upgrade and of course will accept any of the 1968 foam and interior kits. Nice reproduction headliner trim for 1968 Mercury Cougar standard models without padded windshield pillars. Also fits several years of Mustang. Driver quality used right side or passenger side folding door handle. This type of handle was used on the 1967 XR7 models and 1968 Cougars. Good reproduction of a knob that is always broken off. Made from milled aluminum rather than plastic as the originals were made. This makes it so it is not as susceptible to breaking off. Unique to Cougars with tilt columns in 1968 - 1969. Replaces Ford part number C8MY-17513-C. This part also fits the 68-69 Mustang, Lincoln, Marquis, Thunderbird and other like models with an adjustable steering column.

Perfect fit, easy to replace and will be a great upgrade over your original scratched and or pitted knob. To remove, reach behind the dash and locate the small, round spring loaded button on the top side of your headlight switch. Depress the button while firmly grasping the knob and move back and forth until it releases. This set of reproduction used knobs is for 1968 Cougar / Mustangs without factory console. The exception to the rule would be the XR7G. Cougars equipped with a console need the longer version of this knob to clear the padded console face. Used lower knuckle for the tilt / tilt away steering column found in the Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang. This unit will not interchange with the 1967 tilt / tilt away.
