Most of our recycled Cougar parts are from the Pacific Northwest or the Southwest which normally means ?rust-free?. Often times our brackets even have traces of the factory yellow paint daub on the passenger side brackets. We are listing all of the numbers as they appear in the Master Parts Catalog. There are a couple of suggestions that we will make concerning the availability and compatibility of the engine frame support brackets and the actual rubber engine mounts. 1967 289 Cougars - we recommend changing brackets to the small block 1968 ? 1970 style. Even though the after-market dealers claim that all 289/302/351 engines take the same mounts 1967-1970, it just isn?t true. Ford changed the engine mounts and brackets in 1968. The rubber mounts commercially available in the Mustang market are the 1968 ? 1970 style. No direct interchange for 1967. Same design problem for 1969 ? 1970 351 convertibles. Ford wanted to lower the center of gravity on the 1969 & 1970 Cougar convertibles so they used used the FE big block style frame mounts and special companion motor mounts. Also not available except for NOS. Meaning NO$. We recommend using 1968 ? 1970 small block frame mounts Ford part number D0ZZ-6028-C & D0ZZ-6029-C. We at West Coast Classic Cougar also strongly recommend that the rubber mounts be replaced if original and showing any kind of separation or deterioration. We have seen signs of radiator fans coming into contact with fan shrouds many times, from failed engine mounts.
