Rechromed Grille Center Medallion for the 1967 and 1968 Mercury Cougar. Unfortunately the polishing and plating process will take away much of the detail. Cores must be pit free or very close to. Like all of our rechromed parts, if you have exceptionally clean cores and have high standards you will want to send your cores in advance. When you do we will do what we call "core matching". Used aluminum "Mercury Man" head for the center grille medallion. These are just pressed and swedged into the die cast bezel and come out easily with a light tap from behind. This decal can be used to overlay your replacement oil filter, so it looks more like a vintage original oil filter. Research indicates that the gold was primarily used on 66 and earlier, as was the red. This is an accurate reproduction of the tie down notice decal that was placed on the rear license plate frame. This was to remind dealers to remove the tie down plates that were used to secure the cars to the transport trains / trucks on their way from the factory to the dealers. Ford wanted to recycle these plates to save money, but dealers often didn't feel it was worth their time to remove the plates. Thus, many cars still have them. Check yours out! ...

These two piece adhesive XR7-G emblems are made by the OEM supplier to Ford. As you compare these to the now obsolete version supplied through Ford back in the day, you will see these are nowhere close to the original version. One may deduct that since we have the lowest advertised price with the most uncomplimentary description that ours are in some way different than the "other guys". Not so... We recently unearthed a few of these unused club decals from the 1980's. "Cougars Northwest" was one of the earliest Cougar Clubs in the country. It folded back in 1988. It was amazing to witness the number of XR7G's, GTE's and Eliminators that would appear at the various club functions such as the annual "Cruise To Cougar Washington". This is a new, faithful reproduction of the rarely seen promo sticker that was created after the 1968 Cougar won Car and Driver magazine's Readers Choice Poll for Best Sporty Car. The winners were announced in the May 1968 issue. These were mostly put on the quarter window glass, but it's up to you where to show off your Cougar's status. This emblem was used on the driver side of the 1971 - 1972 Cougar hood and on the passenger side of the trunk lid in 1967 - 1968. Also used on various other Mercury products like the Comet, Cyclone, and Marquis prior to 1973. This will not fit on the fender extension of the 1967- 1968 Cougar. This Mercury script emblem is mounted onto the driver side fender extension. This is an original part still in the Ford box, engineering number on the back of the emblem reads C7WB-16098-A, Ford part number is C7WY-16604-A.

This adhesive plaque was placed in front of the shifter on XR7-G models with a factory installed four speed manual transmission. The XR7-G shift knob had a walking Cat on the face of the knob instead of a shift pattern.

Rare Cougar only GT emblems. The Mustang GT emblems had different stud locations. These were used on 1968 Mercury Cougar GT models.  This emblem shares the exact same pin locations with the 1968 6.5Litre emblem, so the factory could punch holes and installed the tubular nuts in the fenders of all S and X code Cougars, allowing either emblem to be installed.
