This product is an NOS Part.
NOS items are OEM parts from Ford that have been sitting on shelves or in warehouses for years. These are often great examples of the orignal parts, but they may have scratches or other shelf wear.
However be aware that some NOS parts are "service replacement" parts. "Service replacement" parts are not exact replacements of the parts that were installed at the factory, but are what Ford considered as "good enough" and were used at Ford dealerships after the original supply of parts was exhausted.

Rod used for locking the 4 speed manual transmission in "Reverse". Connects to the lower tab of the steering column and the reverse control transmission lever shift arm. Prevents the transmission from shifting out of reverse when the ignition key is removed. Rod is about 15-1/2 inches long.
The 4 speed manual transmission, could be ordered on any 1970 Cougar or Mustang regardless of engine. Transmission code "5" or "6" on your door data tag. Ford part number D0ZZ-7E330-S.
*Trivia - Starting in 1970 Mercury installed "Hurst" Competition brand shifters on their 4 speed manual transmission Cougars.
