    Description

Restored aluminum rear deck lid moulding / trim for the Mercury Cougar. If you do not have cores that are worthy of restoration we do have them for sale. The better core you start out with, the better the end result will be! If you prefer a mirror like luster then I suggest you purchase the 1969-70 deck moulding as stainless offers a much brighter finish. Seven clips are used to install the deck lid moulding and we have

    new clips available here.

We will accept extra cores in on exchange for this item and they can be aluminum or stainless and still get the same credit. Good cores have minor dings, scratches and dullness only. No cores that are smashed, kinked or heavily pitted will be accepted.

    Ford part # C7WY-6542512-A.

*NOTE* This unit carries a $60 refundable core charge. If you are unable to return your core within 30 days after the initial purchase, your refund will be in store credit only. If you have an unacceptable core, we have a core option for you in this moulding / trim section. Keep in mind we buy most trim and mouldings found on a Cougar.

If you select this option (paying a core charge), we will randomly select mouldings off the shelf. Paying the core charge does not mean you will get the best of the best, we just assume you don't have cores and will send pieces that possibly might not meet your standards. If you feel that you have nice cores, it would benefit you to send them in advance so that we can core match, which means you get better quality.

    Specifications:
    Shipping Weight: 4.00 LBS
(weight shown may be the dimensional weight)

    This item must ship via

When sending us your core(s), we will need a copy of your invoice. Or at the very least, your invoice number which is located at the top left corner of your original invoice. We will also need the date of your purchase.

Once you have your trim cores packed, we suggest that you take them outside and throw them up into the air as high as you can. After your box lands, jump on it. If you do not think that it will survive, you have not packed it well enough. We have discovered that this type of abuse is typical with shipping. We are not responsible for any damages that may occur in shipping.

Do not send us pretzel shaped parts, parts you have attempted to fix yourself, or flattened out parts. We need trim parts showing only MINOR dents, dings, dullness, or scratches.

If you have viewed our video on how to determine if your core is acceptable and still have further questions, please fill out our contact form and we will help you evaluate your trim cores.

    Cons:
my 1968 cougar had the original deck lid moulding, but this center part was badly damaged. (this could be a typical damage from rear-end collisions.) some repair of the aluminum moulding was attempted by the previous owner, but badly damaged alu parts are almost impossible to repair/restore to an even acceptable condition.

replacing the aluminum part with the later model's (1969-70) stainless steel moulding was not really an option for me. (1968 model has three-part moulding, the later model only this single center part. so the aluminum side mouldings of 1968 can not be replaced with similar stainless steel part from later model. although stainless steel is more practical, i did not want a different, mixed look of part stainless steel, part aluminum mouldings.)

so the original, damaged moulding was replaced with this nice, restored one. it is really a nice quality restore, and a proper fit.

We try to work with customers if they do not have the correct cores, but they still have cores that we can use. Use our contact us form to send us some pictures of what you have, and we can give you a better idea of what we could do.
