This unit consists of a metal shield with rubber stapled to the edges mimicking the fender contours. In most cases, these used shields will need to have the stapled rubber shields replaced. The 1967 and 1968 Mercury Cougar inner fender splash shields were constructed using a metal panel with a rubber material stapled to this metal shield. A Mustang shield will not fit a Cougar because the fender has a much different contour.

*Installation and detailing tip - Front fender splash shields are attached to the fender, rear shields are attached to the body. After the fender is installed, this is the time to apply the undercoating material. This ensures that there is a good seal to prevent water splashing from the tires.
