Reproduction EARLY Solid State Turn Signal Sequential Unit (Before 1-3-67) for the 1967 Mercury Cougar

*NOTE* According to Phil Parcels of the National Cougar Data Base Project, the approximate cut off VIN for determining EARLY or LATE 67 is: 7F91C547891

Cars with a VIN number higher than this would use the late sequential unit. Cars with a VIN number lower than this would use the early sequential unit.

This solid state turn signal sequential kit eliminates all the mechanical motor-driven sequencers and relays used in the trunks of the 1967 - 1968 Cougars. One system module replaces all these parts found in the Cougar trunk: Sequential flasher and motor (the noisy one), directional relay (the big one), emergency relay (5 pin), and the stop lamp relay (for early 1967 Cougars only). It plugs into the original wiring harness and mounts in the original location without any modifications! These units never fail as they are solid state. We have sold hundreds of them with no problems. Comes with three year warranty. Note! If you are unsure whether your Cougar is a late or early model then order this early unit as it works on both.

Check out our diagram below, showing a comparison between this new unit and the original 1967 early sequential unit. Check your car to see which version you have!

*NOTE* Need help diagnosing a Cougar turn signal problem? Victor Yarberry is the world’s most knowledgeable expert on the subject. Vic has owned Cougars since the 1970's and is the designer of all of our solid state sequential systems. There is no question he cannot answer! This unit works great. I also replaced the turn signal relay K-7 with a solid state (13A366).

Manual states to stick the spade connector into the rela connector with the blue wire. I chose a more reliable route: I removed the spade connector from the relay connector, and connected the two directly. I used some heat shrink to keep them safely together and corrosion out.

This works great with regular 1157s. I then upgraded to photon LEDs rear and front, which make a huge difference, especially at daytime.

    Great stuff!

Installed in place of original unit. Now I don't have the slow pulsing dash light. Excellent.

This unit is great! Solved all my problems in one easy step and should be way more reliable to continue working. It was almost too easy.

Fantastic! Easy install/great illustrated instructions. I did not even have to drill new holes in holder. All fit perfectly in the trunk well. (1967 base car)
