    Description

This rubber steering coupler for your fixed column, commonly referred to as a "rag joint", connects the steering shaft to the input shaft on the steering box. This is a multi-fit part that covers many years of FoMoCo products, so you will have a couple of parts left over upon completion. Will require a grinder to remove from your old steering coupler fittings.

Replaces factory steering coupler on 1967 - 1973 cars. Early 1967 Mustangs do not have coupler on fixed columns.

    Replaces Ford part # C7OZ-3A525

Now I have bought many quality items from WCCC but this item is not one of them.
This is a Scott Drake item as well so I expected a better product.
First, it's not just for a Cougar. It's a universal fit product, ok, but it comes with absolutely not one word of advise or information. You get many extra parts so I guess your supposed to figure it out once you have the original in your hand. Trust me, it doesn't help. Just save yourself some money and aggravation and by the repo part, it comes complete and fit like a champ. I ended up buying that locally.
Oh by the way, this was not an easy fix, at least for my car. Between the aftermarket power brakes, the exhaust system, and the clutch mechanism, it is fairly difficult to get at this part. You have to pull your steering wheel too (at least pull it back a few inches).
But the story has a happy ending, after it put up a good fight, it is now replaced and my steering is as tight as the day the car rolled off the showroom floor! Note: I adjusted the gear box first but that only helped a little bit, the rag joint was the real culprit.

    Cons:
I found the kit extremely accurate for the replacement. The hard part is you need a grinder to remove existing rivets on existing unit once removed from car. The new kit fit with ease and looks like original! Fast tip to remove and install complete coupling joint is to loosen 2 steering wheel bolts under dash and pull complete unit out about 2 inches.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
