These are the brackets required to mount the optional rear bumper guards. They mount behind the rear valance and are often overlooked when people part out a Cougar. *NOTE* As is often the case, service replacement parts are painted satin black and the originals installed on the assembly line were left natural. The mounting brackets are in fact supposed to have a natural finish if your car came with them from the factory.

This kit includes all new hardware, and both brackets. Mounting diagram not included (you can save and print the photo above). As shown, 1967 - 1968 rear bumper guards mount 17.5" from the center line of the car. Clip and bolt hardware kit will be new pieces.

This is a 100% accurate reproduction down to the captured lock washer and black Zinc coating. The only difference is that these are made from a substantially better grade of steel than the originals. Correct size and style white square plastic insert that clips onto front or rear license plate bracket on any 1967-73 Mercury Cougar. Each kit allows one license plate to be mounted. The actual screw has a large head which is made for license plates, but is not the factory Ford style of fastener for Concours judged cars. New black screws for attaching the headlight doors to all 1967-68 Mercury Cougars. Four screws needed per side for a total of 8 per car. We have found 3 different styles of separate screws that were used during the 1967-68 model run, San Jose and Dearborn may have accounted for a difference. Many of our customers have asked and requested how we clean and detail our parts. We use a combination of items, mostly fine steel wool and elbow grease. Cleans haze, crud, and years of oxidation and water spots from glass, aluminum, chrome, and rubber. 16 individual pads in a package.

This is the dual port version used on UNITS BUILT PRIOR TO MAY 17, 1967. There was also a single port version in the later part of 1967. These dual port units always leak at the port fitting (easily sealed with epoxy) and the one way check valve never functions properly. Our Western grade A tanks are rust free. Keep in mind we have units that are not as clean looking but still hold vacuum for about half the price. Ford part #C7WY-13A185-C.
