This rod bridges the gap between the trunk lock cylinder and trunk latch. It is held in place by the round spring that attaches to the back of the trunk lock cylinder. Ford part number C7SZ-6543283-A. 1967 - 1968 only. Check out this video

The only difference between the 67 and 68 kits are that the 67 screws are chrome and the 68 are zinc. The zinc will discolor over time, so we suggest using the 67 kit on a 68. This latest of a series of 67 reproduction sheet metal parts is just what the market has been waiting for! The dimensions are EXACT down to the 1/16", black primer finish is very similar to what the later service replacement parts were from Ford. The fender weighs a few pounds more than original due to being made from slightly thicker material than OEM.
