Attractive reproduction of a very popular, over the counter Mercury dress-up accessory. The only Cougars that came from the factory with this real wood shifter were the 1970 Eliminator and 1968 XR7-G. Used to block light from escaping around shifter stem seal. Fits 1969-73 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang as well as 1971+ Pinto, Bobcat, Maverick, and Comet with floor shift automatic transmissions. This rod is unique to 1970 because it was the first year of the lock out rod. Very hard to come by when you consider there was no 390 option for 1970. Notice this rod features two different part numbers. Adjustable rod that connects the floor shifter to the big block C-6 automatic transmissions. C6 transmissions only, code "U" on your door data plate tag. 428 Cobra Jet engines were the only Cougar engines to receive the C-6 automatic transmission. Used automatic shifter bezel / indicator assembly for all Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang with or without consoles. These are the best used ones from our inventory. These will have some minor issues with the chrome plating and most often need some detailing on the black pebble grain. C-6 automatic transmission. Shift rod approximately 18 inches long. Rod originally had a "Red" paint daub for identification purposes on the Dearborn assembly line. 1971 only. Attaches to the console shifter bezel on any 1967-68 Mercury Cougar or Ford Mustang. We occasionally have these available when we get broken console bezels. This surround or "U" plate was originally attached with heat to pin connectors. To reattach we suggest using glue. This clips affixes the plastic speedometer gear to the cable. Some have found that this OEM original clip fits a little better than the reproduction we offer. *Trivia* Did you know the first Cougar cast for production in 1968 was this "Custom Cougar"? This fine example was offered up on ebay summer 2008 for a mere $6500.

This is a good used speedometer cable from a 1969 - 1970 Mercury Cougar with a FMX transmission. The cable housing has no burns and the fragile plastic squeeze clip that fastens it to the back of the speedometer is not broken. Keep in mind that some 1970 models use a two part cable. This cable will work in place of the two part cable seen on some 1970 cars. This cable measures 58 1/2" at its very most outer ends.

The only Cougar that we know came factory equipped with this part is the Cobra Jet. According to the Master Parts Catalog (MPC), any Cougar with a 3.91 or 4.11 rear end and a C-6 would have been equipped with this reducer. Replaces Ford Part #: C8ZZ-17294-A.

High quality alternative to the expensive OEM switch. If you have an early 67 the plug may be the dual type which is also listed on this site. This will work with your C-4 or C-6 automatic transmission. The only real difference is that this switch does not come with the FoMoCo logo or part number on it. Replaces Ford Part #: C9ZZ-7A247-B, SW 877
