This dealer installed kit was designed to fit many FoMoCo products. These were most commonly mounted on the driver side rear panel. They were taller than the standard antenna so mounting them on the driver side would protect them from low lying branches and other obstructions that more often come in contact with the passenger side of the car. Very correct kit for the 1971-72! Not only does this kit include all the correct hardware, but also a photocopy of the original Ford template showing where to place the antenna on the passenger side fender. The rectangular base gasket is actually not correct for a Mercury Cougar as it has a Ford Mustang part number and is of a different shape and thickness (see comparison photo). Replace that old, pitted, and cut up radio bezel with this quality concours part. This is a Mustang piece that will work on your Cougar but is slightly different. This plastic panel affixes to the radio bezel from the backside. Very rare item... For example, according to Kevin Marti, in 1971 only 1451 Cougars came equipped with this panel. The reason a car would be ordered radio delete from the factory was often the dealer knew he would have his sales people upgrade the customer to a stereo or 8 track. Under dash mounted rear speaker controller. This is a used and tested unit that functions flawlessly. Typically this style of fader switch was used with the stereo radios with either AM/FM or the various 8-Track stereos, with added rear speakers. Included is the blue plug and pigtail that goes to the speakers.The pigtail harness is marked D1AB-19A017-BC.

Good used detail item that is often missing and is also correct for Mustang. Copper grounding strap. We have noticed that 1971 cars typically have a hex head screw, and the 1972-73 straps were attached with a hex head screw.

C6OA-18832-A is the number stamped into the end of the Autolite capacitor. Attaches to one of the lugs on the voltage regulator, bullet lead plugs into wiring harness. Sometimes called a radio ignition interference suppressor. About 1-15/16" inches long. This is one of those small detail items that judges like. Not sure of the exact application for these original Ford stereo speaker wiring harnesses. We think that they may have come from the radio kits installed by Ford and Mercury dealers. Note the special speaker connector plugs. The individual right and left speaker wiring leads are about 40 inches in length from the center plug that goes to the radio or stereo.
