    Description

This is a bare bones console with no lid or insert. It is actually a 1969 console base but can be converted to 1970 by changing out the storage compartment area with a used 1970 storage compartment with no lighter. 1970 owners may want to keep the lighter as it makes for a nice power port that is easier to access than the one on the dash. This is a good value for the person who already has a console but the base has been damaged. Made from ABS plastic that is paintable with any solvent based paint. Very correct reproduction, injection molded like original with correct grain surface.

    Assembly includes:

    • Base with metal support brackets
    • upper console panel (where shifter plate mounts) with metal retainers
    • front ashtray receptacle holder with die cast lid and rubber lid bumpers
    • rear ashtray assembly
    • 1969 style compartment box with cigar lighter
    • hinge for compartment lid
    • cigar lighter with correct knob and chrome mounting plate.

    Pros:
    Cons:
This base unit is an excellent copy of original. Original upper pieces fit perfectly to the base. Although not yet installed, I am sure it will fit right. Highly recommended if your base consol is damaged or in not so good condition. Was worth the money. Can’t wait to see it installed.

Does this come only in black? Looking for a medium blue color for a 70 cougar.

    WCCC Admin Answered:
These are only reproduced in Black. If you need another color you need to get some SEM brand paint color matched to the color of your car and paint it to match your car, or try to locate a brittle original.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...
