Very correct reproduction, injection molded like original with correct grain surface. Assembly includes; Base with metal support brackets, upper console panel (where shifter plate mounts) with metal retainers, front ashtray receptacle & holder with die cast lid and rubber lid bumpers, rear ashtray assembly, 1969 style compartment box with cigar lighter, hinge for compartment lid, cigar lighter with correct knob and chrome mounting plate. While not technically correct for the Cougar, many owners prefer the look of this console without the woodgrain. One less thing to maintain, clean uncluttered look and more correct looking than putting the straight grain on your XR7 Cougar.
Notice in the picture below there is no light to illuminate this area. We have good used lights available as well as the wiring harness that feeds the light and lighter.
The picture above shows the storage bin with the lid open. Originals have a black flocking, these reproductions are smooth which makes them easier to clean. One can buy spray on flocking material for those that are a stickler for correctness. The picture below shows how correct the grain is.
You will need to choose whether you want a flat or three humped lid. Generally XR7's & Shelby's got the three humped lid and all other models got the flat lid but 1970 Decore Interior Eliminators and certain other Mustang / Cougars have been documented to have originally come with a three humped lid on occasion. Basically you should choose what you like.
The picture above shows the lighter in the 69. Our 1970 consoles come with the lighter also as they are not offered any other way from the manufacturer.
Our consoles without woodgrain are a good alternative for those looking for a cleaner look. Customers who have an XR7 often would rather have nothing as opposed have the wrong straight grained piece. If you select the console with no woodgrain you can always add it later "if" it becomes available.
