    Description

This is a restored 1968 steering wheel that is correct for all but the later production, standard interior equipped 1968 Cougars. Only the XR7 & XR7G received the woodgrain center section, the decor and standard interior equipped Cougars received a color coded to the wheel vinyl insert. All 1968 Cougars used this center emblem except the XR7G which used a larger metal version. This wheel does not include the center pad assembly or horn ring (shown for display purposes only).

As we prefer to start with a very nice core wheel, a good core wheel is required in advance in exchange or the core charge will apply. We choose to only send in wheels that are not separating or have large cracks as the end result looks superior and holds up better to the test of time.

*NOTE* If you are sending your wheel in for restoration please scribe your name in the exposed metal area under the steering wheel pad. It can take as long as three months before you get your wheel back. If you have a decor or standard level interior and your interior was not black, the back side of your steering wheel was color coded to your interior. The wheel we are offering here is a black wheel which was used on all XR7 / XR7G's and Decor Cougars with black interior. If you want a color other than black you will have to call us for availability or supply your colored core in advance.

This deluxe wood grain steering wheel makes my car look just like 1968. You can't go wrong if your looking for era correct. The only reason I gave it a 4 for Craftsmanship is because I'm a perfectionist, but this is as close as perfect as you can get. Thanks West Coast Classic Cougars.

I bought my 69 Cougar in Jul of '09 as a retirement from the Army gift to myself. From day 1 it had intermittent heating problems that I tried to fix. I changed the radiator, thermostat, water pump, and added 2 12 in 1400 cfm electric cooling...

I have been a cougar owner for just shy of 30 years, I have been dealing with part problems for a very long time. The people at WCCC have always be honest, and overly helpfull. I now have a 1970 XR-7 mostly rebuilt, and my son has a 1968 base...
