    Description

Beautiful show quality triple-plated chrome taillight grilles / bezels for your '67-8 Cougar! Better than new. Sold as a pair. Bare chrome, so you will have to do the black detail paint yourself (see tips below).

Like all of our rechromed parts, if you have exceptionally clean cores and have high standards you will want to send your cores in advance. When you do we will do what we call "core matching". If you send in parts with ZERO pits you will get back restored parts that had no pits prior to replating. If you pay the core charge and we send your parts out in advance of getting your cores, we just select a set randomly off the shelf as we assume you have average quality or no cores to return. If you must have the restored parts prior to sending your cores you should at least send us several detailed pictures of your cores prior to us sending out the restored parts.

*Upgrading is possible for an extra charge.

Painting Tips (click images to enlarge)

We recommend SEM Trim Black aerosol paint for this application. It's a professional-grade product that adheres well to chrome and has a beautiful satin black finish.

First, assuming you have freshly rechromed bezels, prep for paint by cleaning with wax & grease remover or similar. Then coat with SEM Trim Black, following the directions on the can.

Allow the paint to dry thoroughly (overnight) before handling. Next, mask off the edges of the bars where you want the chrome / black paint to end. From the factory, the black paint extended onto the bars just a little bit.

Now begins the fun part. Using a rag lightly dipped in paint thinner / reducer, use one finger to wipe away the paint on each bar. This will give you a smooth edge. Be careful to only use a little thinner at a time to avoid runs. This will take a while, but the results are worth it. Put on some music and lose yourself in this task.

Next you'll have to reveal the chrome around the license plate light area. Use masking tape or just a steady hand and wipe the paint off the raised area with your rag & thinner. It should look like this when you're done:

While you're at it, you might want to restore your light housings as well. Use the same Trim Black paint around the outside to match the bezels, and use either gloss white or silver on the lamp reflector areas. Originally they were silver, but some say white reflects the light a little better.

Once it's all back together, you'll know it was time well spent.

    Cons:
Not seeing a way to edit a review, I would like to add that the old WCCC site did not, as I recall, have a notation of having to paint the bezels. The new site clearly states and offers helpful information to paint the bezels. My purchase was made using the old site.

    Pros:
    • Rechromed
    Cons:
    • Not painted
    • Minor evidence of prior surface rust
    • Minor evidence of prior pitting
The re-chromed bezels appear to look good in the box. Pull the bezels out, and inspection reveals the former rusty sections and rust pits. I trust the bezels were chemically cleaned and treated prior to being re-chromed, and I understand that minor rust and pit areas cannot be not totally unexpected. What is unexpected is that the bezels are NOT painted. I have received many fine products from WCCC, but this definitely tarnishes an unblemished record. If you are looking to spend big $$ for nice shiny chrome, here you go. If you want to spend a weekend painting something, that in my opinion, should already be painted (restored), then these bezels are for you.

    Pros:
    • Clean and bright
    Cons:
    • Studs stripped out

Bezels came when stated but three of the studs had fallen out or simply not installed int the bezel and dropped in the box. As expensive as they were to purchase I expect a better product. I suggest improve quality control.

WCCC Response: Agreed Michael. We appreciate the constructive feedback, not only is it a hassle to remove studs from your cores to put into our parts, chrome can get inside and once that happens you have to chase the threads with a tap. From now on we will work harder to not only inspect the front side but give some attention to the backside. Hope they met your expectations once they were detailed and installed. Don Rush

    • When purchasing USED or NOS items, we do not know if listed chemicals are present in these products.
