    Description

WE CAN NOT SHIP THIS PRODUCT INTERNATIONALLY WITHOUT SHIPPING IT AS HAZARDOUS MATERIAL. THIS WILL INCUR HAZARDOUS MATERIAL CHARGES VIA UPS AND SOME COUNTRIES DO NOT ACCEPT IMPORTING THIS PRODUCT.

SEM brand COLOR COAT paint is formulated to match, restore or change color on most vinyl surfaces, flexible and rigid plastics, carpet and velour. COLOR COAT is fade resistant, flexible and is a semi-permanent coating. We do not recommend this product for driver side arm rests, door pull straps, shift handles, front seats or other items that will receive constant use. This product is great for dash pads, headliners, consoles and the like. Many vendors do offer a "generic" sampling of colors, but to obtain true restoration quality results, you will need multiple variations of the same color This is true unless you have black and then this Landau Black will in fact do most all of your 67-73 interior parts. If you examine your parts very carefully you will notice some parts have metal-flake (like dash pads) and some do not. There were multiple suppliers (over a dozen) for the different plastic and vinyl interior parts and whereas one would think they all would be identical in color they are not. Due to the vast array of materials used and different suppliers and manufacturing methods used to produce these parts multiple shades of any one color are needed to obtain a correct original appearance. Locally we rely on "Industrial Finishes" to custom match and mix our SEM brand interior paint. This automotive paint supply store uses a hand held electronic scanner to scan an original part that has not been subjected to harsh UV rays. This service is less costly than you might think, usually multiple custom mixed colors can be obtained for under $200 and supplied within 48 hours. Nothing looks worse than an old interior that someone has "fogged" heavily with a "one size fits all" off the shelf color. It will take extra time, effort and money to recolor your interior parts correctly but the results are worth it.

Perfect color and texture for our Cougars. Black is the only color that is consistent throughout the interior. If you are doing a blue, red or other color interior, be sure to buy different brands of the same color paint to get an authentic variation. The factory supplied parts from multiple suppliers and unless it was black, the colors varied, sometimes significantly.

    Pros:
    Cons:
I haven't used this particular Landau Black, but the Shadow Blue I ordered from Don worked very well and was a near-perfect color match for my 69 XR7 Convertible. I had to reconstruct a center console for my car, which is white leather with blue trim, and the console itself was brittle, cracked, and unsalvageable. I got a good console base off of eBay, and cleaned the daylights out of it. After a final wipe with a clean rag and rubbing alcohol, I began a series of light misting coats in Shadow Blue SEM Color Coat. I painted the underside first to make sure the color was what I wanted. It used the bulk of two cans to do the console, the lower dash trim and couple of other bits, but I was very pleased with the results. Whether it is a spot-on match is in the eye of the beholder, but since there were so many different suppliers, I don't know how anyone can claim one shade to be 100% correct. The secret is to clean it VERY well and be prepared to waste a lot of the product in overspray. However, this is a good method for those who do not want to go through the hassle of getting colors mixed at a paint shop, or don't have the required spray equipment. I am trying the parchment paint next for the lower dash and will review how it turns out. I'll also come back and do a "Long-term" review a year or so of driving down the road to see how it holds up.
