According to the Master Parts Catalog (MPC), Early (before Jan 31, 1969) Cougar with a 3.91 or 4.30 rear end and a 4 speed manual would have been equipped with this reducer. Boss 302 and 428 Cobra Jet engines were the only cars that could be ordered with those rear end ratios. Check with the Mustang 428 Cobra Jet Registry for actual usage, Not always factory installed in 1968-69. Check it out, they have a lot of content on that site. Also found on 1970 4 speed Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang.
