Reproduction machined tube seat set, for all 1968-70 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang. Also some 1967 Cougar or Mustang control valve and ram cylindernwith the 5/16" fittings. This set includes 6 seats, other kits only include 4 seats. Please note that early 1967 control valves had 1/4" fittings.

Tube Seat Seals for Power Steering Control Valve and Ram

Fun Fact: Ford switched the size of the lines for the power steering set up in the mid to late 60's. Older systems use a 1/4" tube seat seal. The newer systems used a 5/16" tube seat seal. My car has had the PS components replaced (at least once). So, I now have a Control Valve with 5/16" seats and a Ram with 1/4" seats. The kit I purchased only contains 5/16" replacement seal. Thus, I had to purchase another set of tube seat seals with the 1/4" seals.
I can't blame WCCC for this situation. How could you possibly plan ahead for mis-matched parts on a 50+ year old car? It was just frustrating to learn all this in the middle of the job, and have to wait a week while new parts arrive.
I haven't actually installed anything on the car yet, so may need to write a follow on review. At this point, materials and craftsmanship appear to be fine. The parts I removed appear to be brass. The replacement parts appear to be aluminum.
IF you are trying to fix leaks on your power steering hoses, and IF you are considering replacing the tube seat seals, I recommend you pull the old seals out and inspect for sizing prior to ordering parts.

Are these needed when purchasing a new or remanufactured steering valve and steering cylinder?

No they are not needed with the new reman units, they're already included.
