This retainer clamps together the two edges of the shroud and sets into the mounting holes on the column. The original is very hard to remove because of the saw blade teeth inside the grooves, and most times the tabs will easily break off. This reproduction will not have those teeth. Fits all factory 1970 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang, they use the same plastic collar around the column.
If need be, simply widen the retainer for a better fit.
